The previous Friday had seen Bradford lose their 100% record in the season so far with a 25-2 loss away at Warrington. So Wigan knew they could return top of the table with victory away at Workington, but by half time it was not going to plan. Stephen Holgate's try had Workington 6-0 up with Wigan's effort being very lethargic. They bucked up after half time though to find five tries towards a 30-6 win.
