Both Wigan and Leeds came into this Friday Sky Clash with 100% records, having each won three out of three so far. Wigan though produced a superb display to make a mockery of Leeds start to the season. Jason Robinson crossed to open the scoring before two tries from Martin Offiah had Wigan 14-0 at the break. Leeds did hit back after half time with Wigan's failure to deal with a bomb allowing Gary Mercer to score but tries for Barrie McDermott, Gary Connolly and Shaun Edwards saw Wigan win easily 38-6 in the end. One negative for Wigan was the loss of Kelvin Skerrett with a possible fracture to the cheekbone damaged in the previous May's Premiership Final but McDermott replacing him impressed. Leeds night was summed up with Kevin Iro having to endure a sin bin period but Leeds coach Dougie Laughton's claim that their "loose ends were coming together" was looking ridiculous after this.

Half Time:

Wigan 14 Leeds 0

Russell Smith (Castleford)
