Wigan's midweek loss at Odsal was a dent in their title bid but they at least knew that they had to play Bradford again here at Central Park three days later. The conclusion was that now this game was a full on title decider with Warrington able to pounce if the game ended a draw. Wigan win and the destiny of the title was in their own hands due to significant points difference advantage. A loss though and their bid was over, so it was pretty tight on this one result. Bradford took a 2-0 lead with a Deryck Fox penalty goal but Wigan claimed the first try through Sam Panapa to go 6-2 ahead. Daio Powell's try got Bradford back in front at 8-6 but a kick rebounding off the post allowed Shaun Edwards to score under the sticks for 12-8 to Wigan. A penalty apiece were exchanged but in the 34th Minute, Martin Offiah's try helped Wigan to a 20-10 half time lead.

Bradford looked panicky early second half and Dave Watson's error allowed Phil Clarke to send Andy Farrell. Shaun Edwards long pass then got Offiah over for a second try and Wigan were now in full control. Bradford did get one try by from Paul Medley but Offiah completed his hat-trick and Edwards claimed a second try to add to six tries and a drop goal by Botica that completed a comprehensive 41-14 win. The net result was that Wigan, Bradford and Warrington were now all tied at the top on 42 points with two games each to play but Wigan's superior points difference kept the title within their own destiny.
