Summary:

Bradford had beaten Castleford on the Friday to keep pressure up on Wigan, ahead of two sides meeting both home and away on the Tuesday and Friday following this match. Wigan were perhaps guilty of having too much of an eye on that because they slipped up in this trip to second bottom Hull KR. Wigan had held a 4-2 lead at half time but things were beginning to unravel. Nigel Wright left the field with a broken leg whilst Paul Atcheson and in the second half Paul Atcheson left the field with a knee injury before Phil Clarke also suffered a re-occurrence of a knee problem to leave the field and Wigan down to 12 men. That didn't fully explain the match though, Rovers deserved their win and with tries in the 45th, 55th and 66th minutes, they put a huge spanner in the title race. Warrington winning 27-24 at Featherstone dealing a further blow.
