It may have still been November but snow was falling
whilst this midweek game in hand was contested against Sheffield Eagles.
Wigan had fallen to sixth in the table during the month with this game
having been held back and their match at Bradford having been abandoned.
Wigan took the lead in the 5th Minute when an error from David Mann was
punished by Sam Panapa. A try from Ian Hughes got Sheffield level at 4-4 but
by half time tries from Martin Offiah and Danny Ellison had Wigan 12-4
ahead. Wigan quickly kicked on after half time with tries from Andy Farrell
and Panapa's second increased their lead. Lynton Stott's try replied for
Sheffield but tries from Mick Cassidy (2) and the second of the game for
Offiah completed a 40-10 victory that saw Wigan jump to third in the table.
