Summary:l

New £250,000 signing Gary Connolly from St Helens had just jetted in from his off season spell with Canterbury Bulldogs and was thrown straight into a debut against Widnes, Live on Sky. It didn't take him long to settled down with a try in the tenth minute putting Wigan ahead. This set the tone against a Widnes side that was lacking in the quality of recent years. Wigan had a comfortable night leading 14-2 at half time before finishing 32-2 winners.
