Ahead of this Regal Trophy Quarter Final
Replay, Steve Hampson received a ten match suspension for his third red card
of the season in the original tie the previous Saturday. It would only begin
after this replay though, a match that was as tightly contested as the first
tie. Baring in mind the second half of the first tie had been scoreless, the
score was stuck at 0-0 all the way until the 57th Minute. It was then that
17 year old substitute Bobbie Goulding opened the scoring with a penalty
goal for 2-0. He later sent over Shaun Edwards for the game clinching try in
the 69th Minute to take the headlines. His conversion making it the final
score of 8-0. Leeds night finished worse with David Heron being sent off
five minutes from the end for elbowing Edwards.
