Summary:

This John Player Semi Final at Headingley was a hard fought battle. Bradford went all out in the forwards but weren't helped by Harry Pinner spending ten first half minutes in the bin. They would chip ahead though with first a Paul Harkin drop goal making it 1-0 before David Hobbs kicked a penalty for 3-0. That lead was established with nine minutes to half time and they almost took it into the break but for Ellery Hanley scoring right on half time. Conversion missed, leaving the score at 4-3, but soon in the second half Joe Lydon kicked a penalty for 6-3. Hobbs narrowed that lead to 6-5 but Bradford ended up facing another sin bin period with Brian Noble being yellow carded this time. During that time, Joe Lydon scored under the posts for a 12-5 Wigan lead. Wigan's progression to the final was then sealed with a Tony Iro try ten minutes from the end.
