Rovers were without both Gavin Miller and David Bishop
for this replay and Wigan ended up just picking them off to make the semi
finals. In replacement, Rovers played youngster Stuart Schulz, normally a
centre, at Scrum Half but he struggled against the class of Andy Gregory. A
sin bin to Mike Fletcher helped Wigan get going. Joe Lydon kicked a penalty
and three minutes later Kevin Iro sent Mark Preston in for the opening try.
Iro then scored himself and Steve Hampson also scored towards an 18-0 half
time lead. That score held until the 56th Minute when Lydon added a second
penalty goal but in the final quarter Preston and Andy Platt added tries to
complete the win.
