Summary:l

Coach Graeme Lowe was under pressure with Wigan performing poorly in the league and early on things looked bleak for his side again. Both sides kick early penalty goals before a try to Tony Anderson in the 16th Minute put Halifax 8-2 up. Then ex Wigan John Pendlebury scored past poor tackling by Nicky Kiss to make it 14-2. A big turning point came though when Fax lost another ex Wigan player in Colin Whitfield to injury. A try from Mark Preston got Wigan back in it with Kevin Iro kicking the conversion and a penalty for a 14-10 half time deficit. In the 56th Minute, a try from Joe Lydon made it 14-14 but on 62 minutes a penalty from Peter Coyne put Fax back in front at 16-14. Lydon nailed a long range goal to level up at 16-16 and a replay was now looking likely until Preston claimed his second try to nick the victory late in the game.
