Summary:

The match was tight for the first twenty five minutes but four tries by Wigan before half time - two by Kevin Iro and one each for Henderson Gill and Joe Lydon blew the game wide open at 16-0 despite Wigan failing to convert any of them. Two back to back tries early after half time - first by Tony Iro then a wonderful move finished by Ellery Hanley - increased the lead to 26-0 with Andy Gregory finally converting a try at the sixth attempt.

Even when Tony Anderson's try reduced the lead to 26-6 on 55, the game never looked in doubt. Dean Bell's try sealed it on 65 minutes with Neil James response for 32-12 three minutes later being scant consolation.
