Summary:l

Salford had two tries disallowed for forward passes in the first half before Wigan managed to claim two tries to take a 12-0 break lead. Shaun Edwards touched down a delicate kick from Andy Gregory before Joe Lydon beat Gary Jack for pace in the 35th Minute. All looked good but Salford fought back second half. They hit back first with a Greg Austin winning a desperate race to the ball. Conversion missed but when David Cairns scored in the 55th Minute, the score was back down to 12-10. Then on 70 minutes Mick Worrall kicked a penalty goal that had The Willows home faithful in raptures with a 12-12 score. After Austin missed a drop goal attempt, it looked like the sides were settling for a replay back at Central Park but in the last minute, Edwards scored a winning try, after good work from Martin Dermott and Ellery Hanley, to get Wigan into the Semi Finals.
