Summary:

It was a nasty opening thirty minute to this game with three sin binnings. Rob Louw of Wigan and Hull's Lee Crooks and Mike Brand all were given "ten minutes" by referee Robin Whitfield and the ill discipline allowed Henderson Gill to kick three penalty goals, after Hull had kicked a drop goal, for a 6-1 lead after 17 minutes. Wigan added to this with two tries from Ellery Hanley and one from Graeme West in the ten minutes up to half time that took Wigan into a 24-1 half time lead. Two more tries from Ellery Hanley made it 34-1 but Wigan slackened off late with Fred Ah Kuoi being allowed to score a consolation.
