Summary:

The freezing weather, which had relented briefly at the beginning of the month, returned to twice postpone this cup tie against Batley at Central Park. With John Ferguson due to soon return home to Eastern Suburbs, Wigan took the decision to play this home cup tie at Bolton Wanderers' Burnden Park ground because that venue had undersoil heating. The decision worked a treat with a good victory earned and amazingly the attendance of 9,606 topped all the Bolton crowds in the football season to that date.

Half Time:  Wigan 16 Batley 4
Attendance:  9,606
Referee:  Fred Lindop
Note:

Having been twice postponed at home on Sunday 10th February 1985 (3:00pm) and Wednesday 13th February 1985 (7:30pm).
Wigan defaulted home advantage to Burnden Park, Bolton so they could take advantage of that grounds Undersoil heating system.
