Wigan had to dig deep to see off Salford in this
Lancashire Cup Semi Final at The Willows. The home side took the lead in
just the 9th Minute with a try from Roby Muller that was converted for 6-0.
That helped them towards an eventual 8-2 half time lead. Wigan though drew
level within four minutes of the restart with a try from David Stephenson
but it was only the 70th Minute when they went ahead as Stephenson crossed
for the second time and a 14-8 score to Wigan. The match was eventually
decided in the 74th Minute when John Ferguson sent Mark Cannon over for an
unconverted try. Colin Whitfield completed the victory with a "cheeky" drop
goal in the final moments.
