Wigan's "aristocratic feathers had been badly ruffled" in
the first tie on the Sunday said one newspaper but Wigan were much better in
this replay back at Central Park. Wigan were 12-0 up but Lister's try gave
Bramley hope at 12-4 half time. Colin Whitfield settled Wigan down though
with a try under the posts from Mark Cannon's kick in the 50th Minute and
Graeme West scored just three minutes later. Cannon then glossed the
performance with two tries himself in the 65th and 75th Minutes. Coach Alex
Murphy had moved Cannon from second row to Stand Off and it looked a stroke
of genius on this evidence.
