Wigan were looking to keep up title bid momentum against bottom of the table Carlisle at Central Park. The visitors had only just returned to action after halting play mid season due to financial problems. They held out for 15 minutes but once Graeme West opened the scoring, Wigan kicked on. Carlisle wouldn't be helped by a first half sin bin to Boyd for a "needless assault" on Jimmy Fairhurst. Further tries before half time from Colin Whitfield, John Pendlebury and Jimmy Fairhurst had Wigan 16-0 up. Carlisle hung out for 15 minutes again after half time but once Foy scored a second, further tries from Dennis Ramsdale and Henderson Gill took Wigan to a 32-0 win in the end. Elsewhere, leaders Leeds clung on to top spot but lost their third game in a row at home to Castleford.
