After their early cup exit midweek, Wigan were now left with just the league to fight for. They had a chance but they would need to win a few big games against their rivals and unfortunately they got off to a bad start here against Hull KR. Wigan hadn't lost at Central Park in the league all season but Rovers produced an excellent display. This game will be more remembered though for the fact Granada TV's "Rugby League Action" had been given access to film Alex Murphy in the dressing room and he produced an amazing post match reaction (see video).
