Wigan were looking to test their title credibility
against Leeds but it was the home side who would return to the top of the
table. David Stephenson and Henderson Gill were backing up after playing in the previous days Great Britain v Australia Test at Wigan
whilst New Zealand signing Graeme West was making his debut in the second
row. Henderson Gill scored a blinder for Wigan but a red card for John
Pendlebury, for a foul on Kevin Dick, harmed Wigan's chances. Leeds won 8-5
in the end.
