Summary:

Australia had beaten Hull KR 30-10 in their opening match of the 1982 tour and changed all thirteen players for this second match of the tour at Central Park. Players like Mal Meninga, Eric Grothe, Brett Kenny, Peter Sterling, Ray Price and Les Boyd were all left out but yet they still fielded a strong side. In the first half Wigan had only scored three penalties via Colin Whitfield whilst Australia crossed for tries by Paul McCabe and John Muggleton had them 10-6 ahead with Steve Ella converting both. In the second half, Gene Miles and McCabe combined to get Kerry Boustead over for a 13-6 lead but a later try for Wigan by Henderson Gill left the Aussies sweating in defence towards the end of the game.

Half Time:  Wigan 6 Australia 10
Attendance:  12,158
Referee:  Gerry Kershaw
