Wigan had the previous weekend off and used it to recharge batteries with eight league games still to play over the next month. They earned a great win over Warrington at Wilderspool with a great second half turnaround of a 10-5 deficit into a 21-13 win. This was despite both sides being reduced to 12 men after substitutes David Regan of Wigan and Warrington's John Whittaker were sent off. Wigan's title bid may have been over but this at least inflicted a costly defeat in Warrington's bid
