Wigan had dominated Warrington so much they led 12-2 with
ten minutes to go but two late tries left them sweating away on victory with
a missed conversion being crucial in the end from earning Warrington a
point. Earlier Wigan led 3-0 at half time with a penalty goal from George
Fairbairn being added to by a Bill Ashurst drop goal. A penalty goal apiece
made the score 5-2 early second half before Brian Hogan sent John Wood
racing away for a try that made it 10-2 after Fairbairn easily converted.
Ashurst made it 11-2 and then 12-2 with further drop goals before
Warrington's late rally.
