Summary:l

Saints were league leaders but Wigan put in a fantastic display to hang on to victory in the end. Wigan had started brilliantly with an opening minute try from Bob Blackwood making it 5-0 lead after George Fairbairn converted. Later Wigan had held a 14-5 lead with 25 minutes to go but Saints rallied late and were all over Wigan like a rash until the final hooter.
