Wigan were boosted by the return of hooker Colin Clarke,
who played for first time since he had broken his ankle in September. The
first half was pretty tight with Wigan's points all coming from kicks. Four
penalties from George Fairbairn and a drop goal by Jimmy Nulty. Saints had
tied up at 9-9 before Bill Melling put Wigan back ahead with an unconverted
try for a 12-9 lead. Then in the 76th Minute it looked like Saints had
stolen it with a try from Geoff Pimblett being in good goal kicking range
but amazingly Kel Coslett missed and the match finished a draw.
