Poor Weather in January had seen two Wigan matches frozen off
and weather was causing problems again here but in the guise of fog this
time. The thickening of the fog after half time left play virtually
unwatchable for the 3,740 spectators but the drama had perhaps all been done before
then. Wigan had a shocking first half, trailing 9-0 at the break, but tries
from Bill Francis and David Hill had Wigan back to 9-8 within six minutes of
the restart. The rally proved a false dawn as Featherstone settled back down
in the worsening conditions to win 14-8 and continue their great form which
had now seen them rise to third in the table.
