Almost gale forced wind didn't halt a great battle
between Warrington and Wigan at Wilderspool. Wigan had to come from behind
for the win with tries from Whittle and Bevan having Warrington 10-4 up at
half time. Wigan though levelled at 10-10 with a converted try scored by
Keiron O'Loughlin before Jimmy Nulty kicked Wigan's first ever "one pointer"
drop goal (the value for a drop goal had been from two points to the modern
one point prior to this season) for an 11-10 lead. Warrington levelled the
scores up with a drop goal of their own but a try from Dave Willicombe would
see Wigan get the victory.
