It was reported that although Wigan had been outscored three tries to one, they did deserve a draw with Saints for their efforts. In fact Wigan might have won but for the loss of both Colin Tyrer and Colin Clarke to injury during the last quarter of the match when they led 15-12. Frank Wilson's try rescued a draw for Saints with Kel Coslett failing to kick a conversion that would of won it.
