Wigan had won 13 out of 14 matches in the season so far,
drawing the other, so to go down so heavily in this Lancashire Cup Semi
Final to St Helens was quite a shock. Described as a "unbelievably bad" performance
they crashed in horror fashion in front of a huge 23,508 crowd. A bombed try by David Hill in the
first half might have made this tie a different story but it was one to
forget in the end.
