18,508 attended this Challenge Cup Quarter Final at
Hilton Park and witnessed a tight contest. Wigan took a 3-0 lead in the 6th
Minute with Peter Rowe darting through a big gap. Leigh responded with a
penalty goal but on 25 minutes a try from David Hill made it 6-2. The only
response to that was a second penalty from Leigh on 55 minutes for 6-4 but
no further scoring occured and Colin Tyrer missing all four of his attempts
at goal didn't prove costly in the end.
