The build up to this Cup Quarter Final had been dominated by Wigan's refusal to allow BBC Grandstand to televise the match. They would later be fined £500 by the Rugby League Consultative Committee for their refusal. Ironically the tie on the day it was supposed to be played was frozen off, as was the BBC's alternate pick of Warrington v Leeds. So instead the match was played at 6:30pm on a Wednesday Night at Odsal, no floodlights meaning the early kick off was dictated by daylight. Bradford took the lead with a "fine try" by Walker but Wigan eventually took control to win 15-6.

Match had been Previously Postponed on Saturday 2nd April (3:00pm) due to Frozen Pitch
