This was a tough battle on the short trip to Leigh after Heavy Rain Showers had fallen for most of the day in the build up to the Evening Kick Off. Wigan took the led 2-0 in the 15th Minute with a penalty goal from Fred Griffiths. This became 7-0 on 23 minutes when Roy Evans beat four defenders in scoring under the posts, Griffiths converting. Then before half time Wigan found a second try with Frank Carlton going over in the left corner for a 10-0 half time lead. Leigh were not without effort here but Wigan were too strong and second half tries from Geoff Bootle and Brian McTigue completed the win.

Half Time:l Leigh 0 Wigan 10
Referee:l G.Philpott (Leeds)
