Summary:l

Saints gained a little bit of revenge for their play off defeat to Wigan the previous May with this narrow Lancashire Cup victory at Knowsley Road. They had gone 5-0 up after just 8 minutes with a try and goal from Austin Rhodes. That proved to be enough for the win because Wigan's only responses came from two penalties from Fred Griffiths, either side of half time, that made it 5-4. Rhodes added a penalty only right at the death of the game.
