Trips to Hull were always difficult in the old days and
Wigan had to battle on this trip to The Boulevard without Billy Boston, Eric
Ashton, Mick Sullivan, Dave Bolton and Brian McTigue who were all playing in
the First Test for Great Britain against Australia at Swinton on this
Saturday Afternoon. They lost 22-14 but considering the absences, and that
Hull had just one player in the test team, this was a great, albeit narrow,
victory for Wigan.
