Wigan already had full control of this match before the 28th minute dismissal of David Howell for a shocking unprovoked elbow smash on Sam Tomkins. Wigan cruised home scoring some good tries and defending well.

Well I couldn't go tonight due to lack of funds but this was good news. On the very rare occasions I can't go we always win and tonight it proved again.

It did not prove an unlucky 13th fixture of the season for Wigan reserves who continued their 100% start to the season. At this level Wigan have now won 18 matches in a row with the last defeat being to rivals St Helens at Orrell last July. Karl Pryce led the way today with 4 first half tries.

League leading Wigan Under 18's came back down to earth with a big bump today after crashing to a heavy defeat this afternoon at Belle Vue. It was a tight first half (12-6 to Wakefield) but three early second half scores saw Wigan collapse to a big loss.

I make that the eighth time this season Wigan have lost a match after being within a try of being able to win going into the final stages of the game. This defeat was particularly galling though against a Celtic side with only 1 win prior to this match.
