When they are chasing a top spot in the league, the Warriors are absolutely unstoppable, and this occasion was no exception. Eleven tries and eight goals ensured that Wigan continued to apply the pressure on high-scoring Bradford and all-conquering Leeds.
Nine of the Warriors tries were scored by their fleet-footed back division, Paul Ballard, Chris Melling, Liam Colbon and Kevin Brown each claiming two, with Desi Williams scoring one. The only Wigan forwards to cross the home line were second rower Steven Wild and hooker Andrew Crabtree, with the goals going to Melling, who landed eight.
For an out-gunned Wildcats, form stand-off Danny Grice crossed for two tries as well as landing a pair of conversions, whilst there was also a touchdown for Peter Atkinson.
