The war had ended in Britain on 8th May and it was
unanimously agreed on 30th May that
normal league competition would restart for the first time since the 1938-39
Bramley, Broughton Rangers, Hull Kingston Rovers, Liverpool Stanley,
Rochdale Hornets, Salford, Swinton, Warrington and Widnes all returned to
action with Workington also joining the league for the first time. Wigan got
