Summary:l

The war had ended in Britain on 8th May and it was unanimously agreed on 30th May that normal league competition would restart for the first time since the 1938-39 season. Bramley, Broughton Rangers, Hull Kingston Rovers, Liverpool Stanley, Rochdale Hornets, Salford, Swinton, Warrington and Widnes all returned to action with Workington also joining the league for the first time. Wigan got the season off to a great start with a ten try rout of Leeds at Central Park.
