Warrington Wolves v Wigan Warriors - Tetley's Super League V Round 26
Sunday 3rd September 2000. Kick Off 3:00pm at Wilderspool

Wigan moved back to the top of the Super League table after holding off a spirited challenge from Warrington Wolves before running out easy winners at Wilderspool.

The Wolves actually took a 16-14 lead when Allan Langer crossed for his second try three minutes into the second half which Lee Briers converted.

But any hopes of a shock victory for the home side were soon dashed as the Warriors crossed for three tries in a devastating 11-minute spell.

Captain Andy Farrell touched down after a superb break by Terry Newton and then Farrell turned provider as he sent Steve Renouf over for his second try.

Then Gary Connolly pounced on a loose pass from Langer and raced 60 metres to score. Farrell converted all three touchdowns to put Wigan in complete control at 32-16.

With the game already won the visitors turned on the style to finish in commanding style with three more tries in the final 11 minutes.

Newton crossed for two more tries to complete his hat-trick and Kris Radlinski also touched down with Farrell again converting before Alan Hunter ran in a last-minute consolation try for the hosts.

Wigan had held a narrow 14-10 lead at half time to tries from Newton and Renouf with the Wolves replying with tries by Langer and Briers.
